A Facebook campaign has been created to search for Timothy MacColl who went missing in Dubai for five weeks. The online campaign that attracted more than 117,000 followers is called Bring Timmy Home.
MacColl, a member of HMS Westminster’s crew, was last seen leaving the Rock Bottom Cafe in Bur Dubai in the early hours of May 27.
The missing sailor’s wife, Rachel MacColl, who is expecting their third child in October, said at the Press Association. “it is completely out of character for him not to contact us”.
The sailor’s wife Rachael, his mother Sheema, and Rachael’s uncle Neil Cunningham, were informed of a search plan by Dubai’s police chief last weekend.
The search will involve using the mine detection vessel HMS Middleton, which docked in the city on Wednesday, carrying on board 30 divers, trained by Royal Navy to identify underwater enemy mines, it has been reported. The minesweeper is expected to be in Dubai for three weeks.
The search will focus on the waters around Port Rashid, the area where MacColl’s ship, the HMS Westminster, was berthed.
